Thyroid and Parathyroid

Our physicians arre specifically trained in the surgical treatment of both thyroid and parathyroid tumors. Thyroglossal duct cysts in both the pediatric and adult patients are also correctly diagnosed and treated. When a nodule or mass is identified, fine needle aspiration biopsies may be performed in the office or outpatient setting under ultrasound guidance and if surgery is required, thyroid lobectomy, subtotal thyroidectomy and complete thyroidectomy may be performed as deemed necessary by the patient’s condition. Both benign and malignant conditions are treated including but not limited to goiters, nodules, papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular thyroid carcinoma, medullary carcinoma and anaplastic carcinoma. Surgical treatments for Parathyroid adenomas and carcinomas causing elevated blood calcium levels and associated symptoms arc also offered.

Close relationships with endocrinologists allow early and appropriate intervention including medication supplementation, radioactive iodine if deemed necessary and laboratory studies. Surgical nerve monitoring is employed as deemed necessary by the surgeon and the procedure is usually performed in an outpatient setting or with an overnight stay. Surgical scars are minimized with small incisions affording high patient satisfaction rates. less recovery time and early returns to normal activity.
